Creating a cased set for your favorite pistol
I love creating cased pistols for the pistols I like. I purchased a 1955 Walther LP53 in the old cardboard box with all the accessories. I want to be able to take it out and shoot it in style and not wear the box any more. I found on eBay a beautiful curly maple and curly walnut pistol case made by a guy in Canada. The foam inside would have to go but below is the pics to my completed case. Unfortunately my camera changed the color from green to a more blue green, but here goes.

Excellent work there.
Maybe you could more photos of each stage, the next time yo make a case.
I'd be interested to find out more about the moulding process.
Kind regards,
Phil

I did take pictures at the different stages, but the board only allows three pics a posting. I will post how it was made but it will take several postings. Check backpmh wrote:Excellent work there.

Re: Creating a cased set for your favorite pistol
I started with styrofoam sheets about 1 inch thick. You need two the size of your case. One will be the bottom which I sculpted out just a little to form fit the grip and give it some depth. You cover only the part that will show with cloth, using white glue. The second sheet is carved all the way through. You cut strips of cloth and glue to the interior sides. Then you cover the entire top with cloth and when dry cut away the openings.

I put a strip of ribbon under the styrofoam as I put it into the case so I could pull it back out if necessary. Leave 1/2 inch of cloth along the edge and use a table knife to tuck it between the foam block and the case.
